Purpose of the role:
The WEA is looking for experienced adult education tutors to deliver Employability and Skills courses across the South West. Our courses will be delivered in community venues across Plymouth.

As a sessional tutor you will receive:

You will provide the highest possible quality teaching and learning to a group of learners, in both face to face classroom and online classroom environments.

Key areas of responsibility:
1.Manage course life-cycle; planning, delivering and reporting your online and face to face courses, using methods and materials appropriate to the student group and course content, collaborating with the Education Coordinator, class visitor or inspector when required;
2.Prepare/adapt appropriate teaching materials on Canvas.
3.Identify/assess the needs of students and, if necessary, adapt course content and delivery style to meet these needs.
4. Comply with the WEA policy on Equality and Diversity so that all students are treated with respect and dignity in an environment in which a diversity of backgrounds and experience is valued.
5.Discuss Learning Outcomes or Moderation Requirements with students as the course proceeds;
6.Enable your students to participate in the WEA by affording time for distribution of any relevant notices or information
7. Ensure a continued and robust evaluation of student learning.
8.Offer advice on further learning and progression opportunities to students as required;
9.Where appropriate, attend moderation meetings;
10.Any other duty which, from time to time, may reasonably be required to meet the needs of the WEA and the funders and is within the remit of this post.

About you:
You'll enjoy considerable autonomy as you prepare course materials, identify students` needs, adapt courses and continually assess the effectiveness of your approach.

The ideal tutor will prepare course materials, identify students` needs, adapt courses and continually assess the effectiveness of your approach. For delivery of our accredited programmes you will be responsible for ensuring effective delivery and maintaining high quality.

We are looking for tutors that have:

- A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, DTLLS, Cert Ed or appropriate professional experience);
- Experience of delivering non-accredited and accredited courses;
- A good understanding of the Education Inspection Framework and RARPA and quality assurance processes;
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills;
- A desire to share and improve teaching practice.
- Provide learners with a high quality learning experience to achieve their goals;
-Contribute to the personal development of learners;
-Promote Equality and Diversity, Safeguarding.

WEA delivers from a variety of blended learning in community venues in and online. We assume that you will be excited by using digital technology both in the classroom with the student and to manage course administration. The ideal candidate will be IT literate and able to deliver through a blended learning approach including the use of Zoom, and Canvas, our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).

As a Sessional Tutor you are also required to comply with all WEA`s policies and practices, particularly Equality and Diversity, Health and Safety and Data Protection, and those of any host organisations, including informing students of their obligations.
